Four Ball Wear and (EP) tester

Koehler Instrument Company

The Four Ball Wear and extended pressure (EP) Tester is an advanced instrument designed for testing lubricants’ wear preventive (WP) and extreme pressure (EP) properties, as well as determining load-carrying capacities. Conforming to ASTM and DIN standards, it features an integrated 15-inch multi-touch control panel, precise AC servo motor speed control, and a dynamic pneumatic loading system (up to 1000 kg).

The system measures critical variables such as friction force, load, and lubricant temperature, with data acquisition via USB 3.0. Applications include determining lubricant coefficient of friction, load wear index, and Stribeck curve phenomena. Accessories expand functionality for specialized tests like rolling fatigue and KRL shear stability.
